Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare of the nurse¡¯s image between Gyeongju population groups and nurses.

Method: The samples were composed of 305 population groups and 234 nurses. The data were made by collected questionnaires from August 28 to October 5, 2007, and analyzed by frequency, percentage, t-test and ANOVA.

Results: There was significant differences in nures¡¯s image between population groups and nurses. The mean score of the nurses was 3.67 and the population groups was 3.43. In each category, nurse¡¯s image was different in the qualification of nurse(t=68.365, p<0.005). the role of nurse(t=81.819, p<0.005), and interpersonal relation of nurse(t=5.406, p<0.05). The image by general characteristics of nurses had significant differences in age, place of work, position and career. The nurse¡¯s image by general characteristics of population groups had significant differences in education and difference between nurses and nurse¡¯s aide.

Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that nurses need to improve their image to population groups concerning the qualification of nurse, the role of nurse and interpersonal relation of nurse.
